Position Overview
Unitrans is seeking professional and experienced Bus Drivers to join our Personnel Transport Division in Brackenfell. This role involves transporting passengers on scheduled routes while ensuring their safety and comfort.
As a Bus Driver, you will play a vital role in maintaining Unitrans’ high standards of service and safety compliance.
This position requires a strong commitment to road safety, adherence to traffic laws, and excellent customer service.
You will be responsible for ensuring passengers arrive at their destinations on time and in a safe, secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport passengers on scheduled services along established routes.
- Monitor and adjust lighting, heating, and ventilation to ensure passenger comfort.
- Adhere to traffic laws, speed limits, and road safety regulations to avoid incidents or accidents.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, identifying and recording any vehicle defects or malfunctions.
- Complete daily checklists and report any deviations or issues to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained bus, ensuring it is refueled and ready for service.

- Register passengers and ensure compliance with company rules and customer-specific policies.
- Complete and submit logbooks accurately, detailing trip hours and activities.
- Follow authorized routes and make stops only at designated locations.
- Participate in training sessions, DSS discussions, and safety meetings.
- Immediately report any incidents, near-misses, or property damage to management.
- Enforce the use of seatbelts for all passengers and ensure the safe operation of the vehicle.
- Safeguard the ignition key, ensuring no unauthorized access or operation of the vehicle.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 or National Certificate.
- Licenses: Driver’s license categories CE-G, CE-PG, and C-G, along with a valid PrDP (Public Driving Permit).
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience in a similar role.
- Advantage: Passenger transport experience, especially in the tourism industry, will be beneficial.
Skills and Attributes
- Mastery of defensive and preventive driving techniques.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and road safety practices.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding operational manuals and safety regulations.
- Ability to maintain focus and avoid distractions while driving.

- Ability to work effectively under pressure while adhering to schedules.
