Job Overview

This temporary role focuses on transporting packaged gas cylinders to and from customer locations while adhering to the highest safety and operational standards. Reporting to the Facility Foreman, the successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining seamless distribution operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Truck Driver, you will be entrusted with several important tasks, including but not limited to:

1. Pre- and Post-Journey Vehicle Checks:

• Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle before and after each journey to ensure it is in optimal working condition.
• Report any issues promptly to the relevant personnel.

2. Loading and Offloading Cylinders:

• Handle the safe and efficient loading and unloading of gas cylinders at various destinations, adhering to strict safety protocols.

3. Delivery and Collection:

• Ensure timely and secure delivery and collection of gas cylinders from internal and external customers.
• Navigate routes effectively to meet delivery schedules.

4. Adherence to SHERQ Standards:

• Maintain compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) standards throughout all operations.
• Promote a culture of safety and responsibility at all times.

5. Housekeeping and General Duties:

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the work area and vehicle.
• Assist with general ad hoc activities as required by the department.

Essential Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications and Certifications

• Minimum of a Grade 12 certificate.
• Valid EC (unendorsed) Driver’s License with a valid PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
• Certified Forklift Operator.
• Possession of a valid Dangerous Goods Certificate.

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy-duty truck driving.
• Proven expertise in the transportation and handling of dangerous goods.

Skills and Attributes

• Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to produce accurate vehicle fitness reports and delivery paperwork.
• Physical and Practical Requirements
• Medically fit to perform physical tasks associated with the role.

• Must have reliable personal transport.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime when required.
