Position Overview
- Job Title: Driver Salesman

Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Management
- Perform vehicle check sheets before departure and report any faults to the supervisor.
- Ensure the truck is filled with diesel before returning to the branch and submit diesel slips.
- Maintain and operate vehicles safely, adhering to all road safety regulations.
2. Stock Management
- Verify product condition and ensure all stock is in good order.
- Return damaged products to the branch and notify the supervisor immediately.
- Confirm stock against the loading list before departure and offload stock at delivery points as per invoices.
- Use safety equipment during loading and unloading operations.
3. Cash Handling
- Collect cash, double-check amounts, and ensure accuracy before leaving the store.
- Follow invoice instructions for cash, cheque, or account payments.
- Cash up daily, complete relevant forms, and deposit money in the FNB DBA machine.
4. Customer Relations
- Greet customers warmly and present delivery documents professionally.
- Handle products with care, checking items alongside the customer.
- Uplift returns with proper documentation and address any customer complaints promptly.
- Build strong relationships by providing excellent customer service and resolving issues effectively.
5. Timekeeping and Dress Code
- Clock in at the start and end of each shift.
- Inform the supervisor promptly in the event of illness, ensuring valid reasons are provided.
- Adhere to the company’s dress code, maintaining a clean and neat uniform at all times.
6. Safety Compliance
- Always wear protective clothing and ensure it is clean and in good repair.
- Never operate an unsafe truck and adhere to speed limits (60 km/h in town and 80 km/h on the open road).
- Stay vigilant against potential hijack risks—avoid giving lifts or stopping for hitchhikers.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Matric Certificate (Grade 12) is required.
Licensing
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Current Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
Experience
- Prior sales experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Integrity, initiative, and a professional demeanor.
