Position Overview

As a Cashier, you will be the first point of contact for customers entering the store. You will process payments, ensure the resale area is well-stocked, and maintain a clean and efficient workspace. This role requires excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Interaction

  • Greet customers warmly with a smile and ensure they feel valued.
  • Handle customer questions and concerns professionally and efficiently.

2. Cash Handling and POS Operations

  • Count cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure accuracy and sufficient change.
  • Operate point-of-sale tills with confidence and precision.
  • Process payments, issue receipts, and provide appropriate change.
  • Perform daily cash-ups and complete all related paperwork accurately.

3. Stock Management

  • Ensure resale area stock is displayed correctly and shelves are restocked daily.
  • Monitor and maintain fridges and displays to ensure products are appealing and accessible.

4. Workspace Maintenance

  • Keep the till counter and surrounding areas clean and tidy.
  • Ensure front-of-house areas are presentable at all times.

5. Team Support

  • Assist both front-of-house and back-of-house teams with orders and operations.
  • Support colleagues during quieter periods by helping with cleaning and other tasks.

6. End-of-Shift Procedures

  • Ensure end-of-shift cash-ups are conducted with the Admin Assistant or Admin Manager.
  • Prepare and submit a daily sales analysis report.

 

Skills and Competencies

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Confidence in handling money and controlling cash.
  • Strong operational skills with point-of-sale tills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Organisational skills and responsibility in handling tasks.
  • Friendly and helpful attitude with excellent customer service skills.
  • Honesty and reliability.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12/Matric Certificate is required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a similar role is essential.
