If you’re an experienced driver seeking to excel in the petroleum transport industry, Total Alrode in Alberton, Gauteng, is offering a fantastic opportunity to join their team as a Petroleum Tanker Driver

This permanent position is ideal for skilled professionals ready to take on the responsibility of transporting petroleum products using ultra-heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 25,000 kg.

With a commitment to safety and operational efficiency, Total Alrode is a leader in logistics and transportation, providing a platform for drivers to grow and thrive.

The role of a Petroleum Tanker Driver is integral to ensuring the seamless delivery of petroleum products to customers. Drivers are expected to prepare and inspect vehicles meticulously before each trip, guaranteeing roadworthiness and operational safety.

Post-trip inspections are equally important to maintain the vehicle's condition and report any defects requiring attention.

During operations, drivers must operate their ultra-heavy-duty vehicles responsibly, adhering to all road traffic regulations and implementing defensive driving techniques to ensure the safety of all road users.

Comprehensive documentation management is crucial, with drivers expected to handle dispatch orders, delivery receipts, and return records with precision. Compliance with safety protocols, especially when handling hazardous materials, is non-negotiable.

A key aspect of this role is overseeing the loading and offloading process, ensuring the safe handling of petroleum products while accounting for every litre transported.

Drivers must be flexible and ready to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays to meet operational demands. Additionally, all tasks must be carried out under the guidance of the supervisor, following instructions to ensure the highest levels of efficiency and customer satisfaction.

To qualify for this exciting opportunity, candidates need a Grade 12/Matric certificate or equivalent, alongside a valid Code EC driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).

If the vehicle involves transporting dangerous goods, a “D” endorsement on the PrDP is required. Applicants must also bring at least three years of experience as a petroleum tanker driver, demonstrating a clear understanding of road safety, defensive driving techniques, and vehicle handling.

A clean driving and criminal record are mandatory, ensuring the highest levels of professionalism and reliability.

At Total Alrode, employees are part of a culture that prioritises career growth, competitive compensation, and above all, safety.

Drivers benefit from a dynamic working environment that values precision, compliance, and customer satisfaction. The company’s reputation as a trusted name in the petroleum industry adds to the prestige of joining the team.

If you’re ready to embrace this rewarding challenge, ensure your application includes an updated CV detailing your driving experience, relevant certifications, and references from previous employers.

Submit your application before the 28 November 2024 deadline to take the next step in your professional journey.

Successful candidates will undergo thorough background checks, including criminal record verification and driving evaluations.

Medical fitness assessments will also be conducted to ensure the physical demands of the role can be met.
