Job Overview
As an Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver, your primary responsibility will be to transport goods safely and efficiently across various regions.
You will play a key role in ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining the vehicle’s condition, and adhering to strict safety and operational standards.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Vehicle Operation: Safely preparing and operating ultra-heavy-duty vehicles for goods transportation.
- Load Management: Overseeing loading and offloading processes, ensuring all loads are secured according to safety standards.
- Documentation: Managing delivery-related paperwork, including proof of delivery (POD) and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Keeping the vehicle clean, well-maintained, and equipped with all necessary tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Safety Compliance: Following company policies, safety procedures, and the National Road Traffic Act to prevent accidents and maintain operational standards.
- Customer Service: Interacting with clients professionally, ensuring a smooth delivery experience.
- Incident Reporting: Reporting vehicle defects, emergencies, or safety issues promptly to maintain safe operations.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
Educational Background:
- Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate preferred.
- Grade 10 literacy level (verbal and numerical literacy).
Licensing & Certification:
- Valid Code EC Driver’s Licence with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- At least three years of experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Proven safe driving record with no criminal history.
- Strong understanding of defensive driving techniques, vehicle inspection, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with vehicle components, loading techniques, and maximizing vehicle efficiency.
Other Requirements:
- Applicants must be 25 years or older.
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and shifts as needed.
